Before you begin…

… remember that beautiful brows are the healthy brows. If you want them to look good after defining them with color cosmetics, you must focus on eyebrow care first. Luckily, there are a few methods of doing this in the right way.

  1. Take along with a good eyebrow serum and use it systematically.
  2. To remove makeup use only natural castor oil – it leaves brows reinforced.
  3. Comb the brows every day and massage them gently with the fingertips.

Essential items for brow makeup

A huge role is played by the quality of colour cosmetics you use for brow makeup. Similarly to choosing a face cream or shampoo, here we should also pay attention to the ingredients used to produce a particular brow care cosmetic. Alike hair growing on our head, eyebrows may deteriorate when exposed to harmful substances therefore pencils, pomades and shadows used for brow makeup should be as natural as possible. Basically, reaching mostly for mineral cosmetics is a good thing to do as well.

Obviously, effective makeup couldn’t exist without making use of the right accessories. A comb (clean mascara wand should do), an angled makeup brush and a small blending spoon are the essentials if you want to apply perfect brow makeup.

BROW MAKEUP STEP BY STEP

When you finally collect all the essential items (cosmetics and accessories), you can move on to applying brow makeup. How to do it correctly?

1. Define ideal brow shape

Mapping the beginning, arch and ending of the brows are the most important thing to do. Run three straight lines that stretch from a nostril and go:

  • alongside your nose
  • through the centre of the iris
  • through the outer eye corner

These three points give you the places where the brow should start, have its highest point and the place where it should end. You can take it for granted the symmetry of your face will remain unchanged once you succeed in mapping the shape of the brows correctly.

2. Contour the brows

Second step depends on outlining brows, having regard to the points you’ve just mapped. You should make sure that the brow ridge is arched correctly, being neither too thin nor too thick. Moreover, you should respect your natural width of brow ridge trusting the nature that it gifted your eyebrows with the perfect shape that our makeup is only supposed to enhance. There is one rule: the smoother your facial features are, the more angled your eyebrows may be.

3. Add missing hairs

The most demanding part of applying brow makeup is handled. Now it’s time to camouflage what the brows miss and cover up all bald/sparse areas. To do it the right way, reach for a thin brush that will allow you to draw short and narrow lines – fake brow hairs. You must remember to draw them one right next to another and keep their growth direction alike your natural brow hair growth.

4. Fill in eyebrows

After camouflaging bald/sparse areas, you can follow with a brow shadow. Do it slowly and gently, gradually fill in the outline you’ve drawn earlier. If you care for achieving a natural-looking effect, try to put the darkest shade at the base of eyebrows that should get lighter at the top – create ombre effect. Obviously, the color of our brows isn’t even, therefore such technique prevents you from producing weird-looking results.

5. Blend the upper line

For even better results, blend the upper part of eyebrows with skin. To do it effectively, use a small blending sponge or a special brush.

6. Comb the brows

It goes without saying that perfect brows must look neat, and this effect is created due to a comb. It’s not about arranging some unruly brow hairs but it’s more about running a comb through the brow hairs to allow you to distribute the color cosmetic evenly, spreading it along the hair. You can see how the effect is getting better with every comb stroke.

7. Define the base of your brows

Finally, something that we often forget about but what is really important when it comes to perfect brow makeup – application either of a nude pencil or light shadow right below the base of brow. This technique aims to bring out the shape of brow ridge.
